Trading Risk Disclaimer
Please read this before using any course, mentorship, indicator, signal, example or software from The Algo Trader, operated by Patel Alay, trading as The Algo Trader.
1. Education and tools only
Everything we provide is for learning and as a tool. Examples, strategy rules, code, indicator signals and screenshots are shown to explain ideas. They are not advice to trade, and they are not tailored to your finances, goals or risk tolerance. Speak to a SEBI-registered adviser before making investment decisions.
2. Trading can lose money
Trading in equities, futures and options, currencies, commodities and crypto assets carries a high risk of loss, and losses can exceed what you expect. Leverage makes losses larger. SEBI's own studies have found that a large majority of individual traders in equity futures and options made net losses. Only trade with money you can afford to lose.
3. No guaranteed results
We do not promise any profit, return, accuracy or win rate. Past performance, backtests, paper trading and recorded indicator outcomes do not guarantee future results. Nothing on this website is a testimonial of guaranteed earnings.
4. Risks specific to algorithmic trading
- Backtests can mislead. Results may be affected by overfitting, look-ahead bias, unrealistic fills, missing costs and data errors.
- Live markets differ. Spreads, slippage, commissions, swaps, latency, gaps and requotes can turn a winning test into a losing live strategy.
- Technology fails. Broker or platform outages, VPS or internet failures, power cuts, software bugs and platform updates can cause missed exits or unintended trades.
- Martingale and grid methods increase position size after losses. They can show long winning streaks and then lose a large part, or all, of an account in one strong trend.
- You stay in control. You are responsible for monitoring any software running on your account and for stopping it when needed.
5. Nifty indicator outcomes
Outcomes on our Nifty performance page (Target, Stop Loss, Break-even, No Trade, Not Recorded) are records of the indicator's signals. They are not your trading returns, which depend on your entry price, quantity, costs and execution. We do not publish rupee profit or ROI figures for the indicator.
6. Laws that apply to you
You are responsible for making sure your trading is legal for you. Indian residents should note that FEMA and RBI rules restrict trading forex pairs not involving the Indian Rupee and CFDs through overseas or unauthorised platforms, and the RBI publishes an Alert List of entities not authorised to deal in forex. Crypto assets carry separate tax and regulatory risks in India. We do not recommend any broker or platform as being legal for you.
7. Third-party services
Brokers, trading platforms, data providers and partner links are run by third parties. We are not responsible for their services, conduct or terms.
8. Your acceptance
By enrolling, buying or using our material or software, you confirm that you have read this disclaimer, understand the risks, and take full responsibility for your own trading decisions.
